Michael Jackson: King of Pop Dies

    Michael Jackson's "Thriller" Album Cover

His very name is known throughout the world. He is love by millions of enduring fans. And even though he was plague by many strange, bizarre, and controversial events in his life, fans will remember Michael Jackson as an iconic pop legend. He started in the music business at an early age with his brothers in a group that many fans know very well; The Jackson Five went on to create many memorable hits including one of their signature songs, ABC. Jackson, who was the seventh child of the Jackson family, began a solo career in 1971. Coined [1] as the "King of Pop" in subsequent years, Jackson enjoyed huge success with his solo best-selling records albums: Off the Wall (1979), Thriller (1982), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991) and HIStory (1995).

When MTV was just in its infancy, African-American entertainers were none existence on the popular music channel. Jackson's dynamic musical presence spotlighted the entertainer into the front burner of the musical channel where he became the 1st black entertainer to be featured on MTV. With this, came a long list of amazing videos such as "Beat It", "Billie Jean" and Thriller, that literally transformed the way music videos were created. One of Jackson's biggest appeals was his stage performances. The way he would moved across the stage would mesmerized thousands sometimes millions of fans. One of his signature moves was the moonwalk. I remember seeing a concert of TV where he does the moonwalk and even dances on his toes. WOW! The level of energy from Jackson is incomparable to say the least.

Some of Jackson's [2] biggest successes as a solo artist include being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. Jackson also achieved critical success with 13 Grammy Awards, 13 number one singles in his solo career, and the sales of over 750 million albums worldwide. Jackson is easily recognized as one of the world's most famous men.

My blog tonight will remember the man who touched so many lives with his charisma and charm. And like I said earlier in this blog, there were many controversial moments in his life including charges of child molestation, Jackson will always be the magical performer that I grow to admire and love while I was growing up. I salute Jackson for being the "King of Pop" and making my childhood and teenage life fun and exciting to be called of fan of Michael Jackson.

Jackson died on June 25, 2009 at the age of 50.

An Auspicious Beginning: The American Dream Comes True (Repost)

    An Auspicious Beginning:

    The American Dream Comes True

By Isaac Davis Jr., BGS, MBA
    Edited by Tina Leggett, BBA

I want to extend to the readers of this Webzine a Happy New Year. While we were pleased with the magazine’s performance last year, this years focus will see the magazine continue forging its niche in the online entertainment publication world in hopes of spinning this Webzine into a new direction. Initially, I wanted to outline all that has happened to Junior’s Cave; however after speaking with Todd, Entertainment and Political Columnist, I now believe that it is important to cover the upcoming historical event that will take place on January 20, 2009 – the 44th presidential inauguration of President Elect Barack Obama.

This world has witnessed a “Change” in this country’s attitude that equals the events of the 1960’s thus it would have been negligent for me to not speak about the steps leading up to now. When Senator Barack Obama first embarked on his bid to become our 44th President of the United States, there were many who felt that he would never see his dreams come to fruition.

President-Elect Obama’s vision of a “Change” touched so many lives not just in our home country but throughout the world that I feel America has finally grown up. I am not going to address the feud between Senator Clinton and Senator Obama during the National Democratic Convention; I will save that for the many Political Analysts to debate; however, I will state that Barack’s tenacious attitude of never giving up forced me to place in perspective my own personal struggles as an African-American male living in the United States.

What Barack’s road to the White House has taught me is that it does not matter who one is or where he comes from; instead one can choose to take afforded opportunities and shine. More importantly, Barack’s mission of “Change” helped me to realize that one can not simply lie down in life and take what it tosses. One needs to be able to develop a strong backbone to tackle any adversities in order to be effective.

Barack will make history on Tuesday when he is sworn in as our 44th President of the United States. The history that is unfolding for those of you living under a rock is the inauguration of the Nation’s 1st African-American President; something that I thought my Grandparents born in 1919 and 1925 respectively would ever live to see. It is amazing to think that our older generation will witness this historic event. Just think about where we were as a Nation during the 1920’s – 1970’s and where we are at now; it gives me goose bumps to say the least.

So as I leave you with this final thought about how African-Americans and Americans for that matter will change; the dream that America – a melting pot that blends all of us as one – may soon be realized as we take this auspicious beginning together in a country that is finally growing up.

    NEW INTERVIEW

    JC Interview Exclusive: JMIAH

    JMIAH

A man of many talents Jeremy Williamson (Jmiah) is certainly one of the busiest people on the planet Earth. In fact, this model, designer, fitness expert, and motivational speaker is also an entrepreneurial. A native of Augusta, Georgia, Jmiah has always dreamed of being a person of quality and essence.

At the age of 13, Jmiah was diagnosed with diabetics (Type 1) with a blood sugar level of 680. From that pivotal moment, Jmiah dedicated his life to being healthy and staying well. Another important aspect of Jmiah's life is his personal relationship with God. He has completed a number of great things as a youth minister and continues to work with the youth. Junior's Cave is proud to introduce to our audience Jmiah.

Isaac: Jmiah, it is a pleasure to be speaking with you in this format. I wanted to state to you that after reading your bio, I was instantly a fan of yours. I love what you are doing. One thing I noticed in your bio is that you grew up in Augusta, Georgia. Describe growing up in Augusta, Georgia.

Jmiah: Well, thanks Isaac! I’m a fan of yours too!! Growing up in Augusta was like… I dunno how to explain it, but think of the perfect suburbia life. It’s not too big of a city, yet not too small either. Nice place and I don’t know if I could ever move away… right yet! Haha The cost of living here is fantastic versus LA, MIAMI, or NYC… so I enjoy that part. Flipside… I can travel to other cities and not have to live there to deal with it every day either. I was able to enjoy country life and some city life growing up… I kinda like having a balance of them both, ya know? We gotta have rest from all the hustle and bustle.

Isaac: One of the most pivotal moments in your life was when you were diagnosed with diabetes when you were 13 years old. You almost died during this time. How were you affected by this diagnosis and what changes did you make in your life to adjust?

Jmiah: At that time, I had NO IDEA what diabetes even was! But I had parents always telling me I could do whatever I wanted to in life if I applied myself. So, I just saw the positive side to it and decided I was gonna be the best diabetic there ever lived! ? They [doctors] said I’d be back in the hospital with complications, but I never had to be admitted or an ER experience until I was 22 yrs old. And that was just from waking up around 5am, taking my morning shot too early and went back to sleep. I was woken up by my wife at the time around 9am with my brother and paramedics all around. My doctor and diabetes educators taught me well and I just paid close attention to what they said. I can say to this day I appreciate what they taught me… it’s helped me understand the fitness industry as well and all those supplements on the market.

Isaac: When you were in High School, you began to play sports heavily. You also begin partying too including doing drugs. What caused you to decide that partying and doing drugs were not for you?

Jmiah: Man, oh man! Well… I tried just about everything because I had that wild oat sowing era too. Ha ha! My high school graduation party was the big time determining factor, or what happened that night was. I was on my 2nd beer, wasn’t feeling hot, so I walked outside. When I was out there… man, it was like… I have no way to explain it other than God spoke to me. I heard a vivid voice tone saying, “You don’t want that.” I literally heard it as I looked around. I know some might think I’m crazy, but just thinking back that long ago makes it fresh again. I heard, “You don’t want that.” After the 2nd or 3rd time, I just KNEW what was going on… it was Him [Jesus] speaking to me. No one else could see or hear it but me. Everyone was inside partying DOWN, while I was being captured from within. I threw my drink down and said, “I’ve been living for the devil long enough, it’s time to do something for God.” So I ended up being the designated driver that night and didn’t even really have a good time anymore. I just felt out of place. They were all my friends so I just decided to be there for them and their protection. HAHA another story before that ever happened was when my mom busted me for smoking weed! Haha omg… it’s funny NOW!! I quit that stuff for the sole fact that I let her down and I hated letting my mom down. I was a mama’s boy, so I was always the one who tried to impress her, ya know? She always bragged on my brother and I… always sacrificed so we could have nice things. I dunno… it was mostly respect for her that I quit that stuff.

Isaac: Your relationship with God was created when you graduated from High School. What does being a Christian means to you?

Jmiah: I am SO glad you asked! Haha! Well, first of all, many have the WRONG idea of what a Christian is. Many think it’s about being “PERFECT” and that’s so wrong! Why do they think that? Well, because of so many judgmental people going around for generations preaching, “Rules and regulations of Christianity”. People think that’s all it is… do’s and dont’s to being a good person. The true meaning of being a Christian goes back to the meaning of the word, which means, “living in Christ.” Same as being an American… you live IN AMERICA, right?!?! But what does that mean? It means we are to spend our lives going after HIM, living and breathing to be with Him, and knowing that you are nothing without Him! It’s simply about a relationship with God! When I say that, the very same people always bust out with, “Well what about the ten commandments?!” I always reply with, “That’s between them and God.” Abraham Lincoln said, “No one has the right to govern another without their consent.” People need to just stop going around acting like they are the Holy Spirit trying to convict others and get to the commandment of LOVING GOD and LOVING EACH OTHER. Love will reach people much quicker than beating them with a Bible. Ok I apologize for the sermon, but that always gets to me deep down! LOL I think I hit a nerve with it! haha

Isaac: As you entered college life, many exciting things happened to you. Describe some of your bigger accomplishments during and after college.

Jmiah: College was fun and yet challenging but gave me foundational principles of life. Gosh, I’m so grateful for being as ignorant as I was and so hungry to learn. I was married to my ex wife during school and we had our daughter right after graduation… that could top anything else I could even imagine to list as an accomplishment. However… years later… we divorced. But it’s all good now, because it’s helped me become who I am today. After college, I went back to my home church in Augusta, and became the youth minister there… and WOW those were some awesome years I would never trade for ANYTHING!!! I learned so much in those days that prepared me for what I’m doing now… WOW!! Everything happened for a reason… and still is for what lies ahead. ;)

Isaac: Expound on New Life Christian Center (NLCC) and what are some of the things you are doing with NLCC.

Jmiah: NLCC is the coolest church in the world… I have to be biased because of my passion for the pastors there. They are the greatest most pure hearted people on the face of the planet. They aren’t perfect by any means, but they are REAL and that’s why I love and respect them so much. They’d give ANYTHING for those they love and they love a lot of people. We don’t always agree on things, but we’re always there for each other regardless. I’d stop answering your questions right now had they called and needed me for something. Haha I was youth pastor there for over 7 yrs. and man… tons of memories that jack up my emotions to this day. I had the BEST teenagers in my youth ministry for those years… and I mean the BEST!! I see some of them today with their own children and it’s just amazing. I love em all! Oh yeah… to answer the question haha my pastors knew my calling was outside the 4 walls of the church so they released me to go after what was burning in my heart… I travel a lot so I’m at church when I’m in town… and you learn to appreciate it when you can’t have it all the time. So many take “going to church” for granted.

Isaac: What are you hoping to gain out of life's journey?

Jmiah: Man… That’s a tricky question and a battle in the mind and heart all the time. I want to have all I’m destined to have yet I reeeeeeally only wanna stand before my Maker and have Him speak in affectionate tones that I did what He wanted me to do and that no matter how many times I messed up, He still loves me. That’s really all I want, ya know? That’s eternity. However, nice things in this life are REALLY COOL too! haha

Isaac: How important is your family to your own personal development?

Jmiah: Not sure I understand exactly what you’re asking, but my family is SOOOO very important to me… if I gain the world and all its success, yet lose my family… I didn’t accomplish what I wanted, ya know? On another note, my family’s encouragement and support is what helps develop me so that’s important too! ?

Isaac: What are you hoping to teach the youth about Health?

Jmiah: Well, you gotta look at two principals. One, the average American is overweight, and something has to be done. Two, people’s direction in life is usually determined by the choices they make or made as a teenager. With that in mind… if we can teach young people the importance, fun, and creativity of eating clean and being active, then we can change that statistic! I’m fully persuaded in it too!

Isaac: As a youth minister, how are you able to convey your love for God with your ministry.

Jmiah: Well, I’m not technically a youth minister any more, like as a youth “pastor” position in a church staff. I was launched out from that back in 2004 to pursue what I’m doing now. But to answer your question with the role of what I do now, then it’s ALL ABOUT PASSION!! Passion is what wakes me up in the morning to be the best I can be. Passion is what moves me when I’m working out. Passion is what shakes me when I’m working in the studio, doing photoshoots, designing clients marketing material, doing life coach phone consultations or whatever!! PASSION to be someone and do something with your life that will leave a mark on history! But most of all, to stand before my maker and Him tell me, “Good job!” Man, I long to hear those words.

Isaac: Ten years from now; where would you like to be at with your life?

Jmiah: Wow! That’s a tough question, because the past two years have been… so life changing. Had you asked me 10 yrs ago, I would’ve NEVER thought of where I am now! Haha To take a shot at it… if we’re all still here, I’d like to be investing my life into doing what I’m doing, but on a broader scale… no matter how famous I become, I’d like to still speak in high schools and events! I luuuuuuuv me some crowds… it’s like a totally adrenaline rush to have fun with people like that!! I loooove it!! I’m excited now just thinking about it! Haha, Every time I’m in front of a crowd, something jumps inside of me like pregnant woman with a baby moving around! haha

    Isaac: Final Thoughts from Jmiah—

Jmiah: Final thoughts… if you gave me free reign, this could be a while! Haha Let me sum it to this… LOVE GOD, LOVE PEOPLE, and LIVE YOUR DREAMS!! YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU WANT IN LIFE… MAKE SURE IT’S WHAT’S IN YOUR HEART THEN STOP AT NOTHING TO ACCOMPLISH IT!! DO WHAT PEOPLE THINK IS IMPOSSIBLE, BECAUSE YOU CAN!!!!! YOU CAN!!! If you ever feel like you can’t, then book an appointment with me to be your life coach… I’ll jack you up like ten red bulls! Haha, LOVE YOU ALL VERY MUCH and THANK YOU for everything!
